Goal

The project aims at promoting and disseminating the important heritage of historical, documentary, and audiovisual resources of the involved Memorial Sites, relating to the criminal phenomena that lacerated the entire European continent during World War II, and particularly in the years 1943-1945, the final stage of the conflict.

The network partnership of institutions aims at contributing, during the 12 months of the Project, to the promotion of a common heritage of fundamental values: Liberty, Democracy, Human Rights as the cornerstone of the institutional architecture of European Union and its member states.

Moreover, the networking of educational methodologies, and of the historical and documentary significance of the Memorial Sites, aims at responding to the vows of the European Parliament that, since the Parliamentary questions of December 2008 by 45 members of different nationality and political affiliation, has been promoting the creation of a “European Institute of Remembrance”.

Follow-up

What impact was expected from the project REPLAY?

The important objective from the beginning was to create a network of Memorial Sites in the form of a "permanent structured cooperation", for developing teaching methods regarding history and remembrance related to the II World War and becoming a placeof exchange of theoretical models and best practices for teaching these topics, for research, peace education and citizenship.

The implementation of joint training sessions at the European level between the various Memorial Sites represents the main objective of the project.

In this perspective the first action taken was signing on the 3rd of March 2010 the Convention between the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Memorial de la Shoah from Paris.
